How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas
Written by: David Bornstein
I finished this book on April 1, 2020. A friend of mine with a great passion for solving world-scale problem introduced this book to me. I really enjoyed reading this book because firstly, I like to tackle world-scale challenges as well, and secondly, coming from a family in which my dad and all of my uncles have their own businesses, I have always been fascinated about entrepreneurship. Yet, I wasn’t really familiar with the concept of ‘Social Entrepreneurship’. After reading this book, I felt that I can use the experience of many great men and women from all around the world who have had fabulous visions to make the world a better place, and in fact, literally tried their best in executing their insights and ideas. Not only this book tells the stories of some brave and hardworking social entrepreneurs, but also it teaches us many important key points about how to be a social entrepreneur and how to take advantage of power, politics, NGOs, public sector, microeconomics, etc. to pursue our ideas and solve the problems around us.

Book Summary
Deep Work: Rules for focused success in a distracted world
Written by: Cal Newport
I finished this book on January 30, 2020. I first heard about this fabulous book on a book review podcast named BPlus. It was so interesting that I immediately checked my local library’s catalogue and picked the book up the day after. Furthermore, I presented this book in a book club and noticed how my audience became rightly thrilled about the book. The reason I am describing the book in such an enthusiastic voice is that I have read other success-related books too, but mostly, they were just giving their so called universal formula of success and assumed it would work for everyone in any place, which is impossible, unless it’s as general as: try hard!
Deep Work, however, is not yelling out a new formula. Rather, it introduces a mindset and tries to establish a methodology that can be adjusted to everybody’s own lifestyle and career. It is focused on the idea of deepening the state of work, and how to profit from a deep life. I strongly recommend reading Cal Newport’s work and hope that my notes about the book increase your thirst to learn more. Click ‘Read More’ to view the summary of the book. Enjoy!
